The inside of my head feels more quiet when there’s a bustle going on around me. Also, I possibly work better when I’m just a wee bit strung out on coffee. I just wish I lived closer to Octane or Java Monkey!

Absolutely! For some folks, the designated workspace has to be out in public. I definitely had my fair share of coffee house writing sessions before I lived in my own place, because I felt oddly more alone in public.

For me, scheduling time to be creative is easier when I get out of the house to do it — if I’m home, I’ll probably write for five minutes and then go fold laundry, or watch TV, or scritch the dog’s belly. A cup of coffee or tea (decaf, usually) is perfectly fair table rent for a couple hours in a cafe. And when the weather’s nice, parks with walking trails are great, too.

I will definitely talk about the wall in the next post! I totally understand the moving in thing ’cause we’re right there with you at the moment. My office walls are completely blank right now (but I finally got them painted the color I want, and that’s a huge help) and so my own inspiration wall isn’t in its place yet at the new house.

Way to be resourceful in recording audio in the bathroom, though!

I think a very big part of retaining creative momentum is support. If you have someone in your life who applauds your creativity and assists you in carving out some alone time you should not have any problems. (This holds true for significant others, roommates, and friends! Although if you have pets, they will never understand why you are home and IGNORING them!!!)

Awesome! I can relate to the first camp…there is no place for me do creative work at home because there’s so much “moving in” cluttter. Did you know I recorded the audio for my 1st video assignment in my bathroom? LOL. Something I didn’t see mentioned here (hopefully will read about it in your next post) is your idea for an “inspiration wall”. My blog has really been my first sort of effort at collecting ideas that inspire me… I’m in the middle of renovating our office and have been thinking of making room to put up an inspiration wall.

Oh how many times a day I try to tell myself these things lol. But you’re right, setting time aside to write or work on my photography as something I have to do rather then something I might do, helps. Well…at least on most days heh. Found your blog randomly on the recent post things, if you were wondering
